The Welton Springs substation is part of the Valley Link 765kV project. The ONLY lines running in and out is the Valley North 765kV line. This proposed 765kV substation is to manage / maintain the voltage level of the Valley Link line to compensate for the voltage losses that HVAC transmission lines incur over large distances.
The proposed Welton Springs substation in Hardy County will have 50-60 acres of substation equipment located inside a larger acreage. One of the largest in the country.
The site in Hardy County that has been purchased is along Highway 220, South of Renolds Gap Rd
There are no site plans available at this time.
